Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed the death of Alireza Tangsiri, commander of its naval forces.

An IRGC statement released on Monday said Tangsiri died from the severity of his injuries. The confirmation came four days after Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that Tangsiri had been killed in an Israeli operation.

Israel had announced targeting Tangsiri in a strike. Katz's statement was reported via Reuters.

Tangsiri had led the IRGC naval forces since 2018, according to the IRGC statement.

The death marks another loss for Iran's military leadership amid ongoing tensions with Israel.

Reliability assessment

Single source (Khaama Press) with direct on-record attribution: IRGC statement confirming death; Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz statement (via Reuters) claiming the kill. Named officials and concrete details (e.g., timing, role) support reliability of attributed facts.

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Khaama Press: "high-profile loss", "military and symbolic blow", "leadership decapitation" – these phrases introduce evaluative judgment on the strategic and emotional impact, blending analysis with opinionated framing beyond neutral reporting.
