Iran has officially invited Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, to attend the funeral of former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed four months ago in a joint US-Israeli attack in Tehran.

The invitation was delivered by Iran's acting ambassador in Kabul, Ali Reza Beikdeli, to Mullah Abdul Wase. During the meeting, the officials welcomed a recent memorandum ending the Iran-US war and discussed strengthening bilateral ties, trade, and support for Afghan refugees.

Both Afghan and Iranian officials described bilateral relations as strong, historical, and continuing without interruption, with increased trade during the war. Mullah Abdul Wase requested Iran provide more facilities for Afghan refugees' residence and return.
