Iran Says All Commitments Must Be Honored as US Deal Nears Final Approval

Iranian officials have reiterated that a proposed agreement with the United States must see all commitments fully implemented by both parties before it can proceed. The deal, known as the Islamabad Agreement, is described as being in its final stages of approval.

Parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that there is no alternative to the complete upholding of all commitments under the agreement. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei reported that internal consultations in Tehran are in their final phases. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi observed that the memorandum of understanding has advanced further toward completion than in any earlier period.

Mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, the agreement is set to encompass regional security matters, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, relief from sanctions, and measures to reduce tensions. These elements follow a period of military confrontations involving the involved parties.

US President Donald Trump has indicated that he anticipates the signing of the agreement by the end of the week or early in the following week. He has also pointed out that certain reports from Iranian media outlets regarding the agreement's details are not accurate. US Central Command has confirmed that American forces intercepted Iranian attack drones directed at commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing tensions.

In a related development, the United Arab Emirates has consented to the release of up to ten billion dollars to Iran, with some funds already provided. The complete text of the agreement remains undisclosed by the administrations in Washington and Tehran.
