Iran Urges Saudi Arabia, UAE Not to Allow Use of Territories Against It

Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, sent letters to the UN Security Council and Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urging Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to uphold principles of good neighborliness and prevent the use of their territories against Iran.

The letters, as reported by Pajhwok Afghan News and Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA), also reference Iravani's previous protests to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait on the same issue.

Pajhwok detailed that Iravani protested the United States' use of UAE territory and airspace to plan and carry out military attacks against Iran. The Iranian envoy affirmed Tehran's commitment to good neighborly relations and reserved Iran's right to self-defense amid ongoing regional conflicts.

According to Pajhwok, the US has conducted airstrikes against Iran using bases in the region since the conflict involving the US and Israel began. It further reported that US bases in Saudi Arabia and the UAE have been targeted by Iranian missiles and drones.
