Iranian Border Guards Rescue 700 Afghan Citizens at Taybad Border from Severe Cold
Iranian officials stated that border guards rescued 700 Afghan citizens trapped at the Taybad border due to heavy rain and extreme cold.
According to Iran's Sound and Vision Agency, the commander of the Khorasan Razavi provincial border guard reported that the individuals were in shared Iran-Afghanistan border areas, suffering from frostbite in harsh weather conditions. The commander said the Afghans intended to enter Iran illegally and faced "certain death."
Border guards used monitoring equipment and medical staff to provide aid, the commander added. He emphasized that foreign nationals must enter through official routes legally, or face action under the law.
No further details were provided on the rescued individuals' health status or their subsequent fate.
Iran has reported rescuing hundreds of Afghan citizens trapped by cold waves at its borders over the past two months, treating them and returning them to Afghanistan.
