Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi Criticizes UNESCO's Silence on Bombing of Historical Sites
Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, criticized UNESCO for remaining silent on Israel's alleged bombing of Iranian historical monuments.
On Thursday, March 12, Araqchi stated on his X page that Israel bombed several Iranian historical sites during recent attacks, including monuments listed on UNESCO's World Heritage register. He remarked that it is natural for a regime that will not last even a century to be hostile to nations with ancient histories.
Araqchi questioned, "But where is UNESCO? Its silence is unacceptable." He noted that some of the targeted sites date back to the 14th century AD.
These comments come amid ongoing conflict described by Araqchi as a war by the United States and Israel against Iran. Iranian media reported that Iran recently attacked the U.S. embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital, in the latest development.
