Iranian Media Reports Over 1 Million People Ready for Ground Conflict with US
TEHRAN (Afghan Verified) -- An Iranian media outlet, Tasnim news agency, reported Tuesday, citing a military source, that more than one million people are prepared for a possible ground conflict with U.S. forces. The readiness aims to counter U.S. efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran intends to keep closed.
Tasnim described U.S. attempts to reopen the strategic waterway as "dangerous and self-destructive measures." The report comes amid heightened tensions following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and subsequent Iranian retaliatory attacks.
Separately, President Donald Trump announced a 10-day pause in planned actions against Iran's energy facilities. Trump stated the pause came at Tehran's request. Iranian officials denied making any such request.
The pause extends a deadline to April 6 amid ongoing diplomatic contacts, according to reports.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, has been central to the standoff. Iran has vowed to confront any U.S. moves to restore navigation through the strait.
No further details were provided on the mobilization of over one million people or the specifics of the military source cited by Tasnim.
