Iranian President Conditions US Deal on End to Overreach; US Leaders Differ on Islamabad Talks
ISLAMABAD (Afghan Verified) — US-Iran negotiations mediated by Pakistan took place in Islamabad, starting Saturday morning and lasting 21 hours until early Sunday. The talks, described as the highest-level since the establishment of Iran's Islamic Republic, ended without result.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that if the United States refrains from totalitarianism and respects Iran's rights, paths to agreement will be found.
US President Donald Trump stated that the negotiations in Islamabad ended with Iran's delegation acknowledging US demands fully and that Iran will return to give the United States whatever it wants.
In contrast, US Vice President JD Vance stated at a press conference that the US-Iran talks in Islamabad ended without result. He said Iran did not accept US demands, whose main goal was preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and that Iran must give a clear commitment.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry urged both sides to commit to their two-week ceasefire and continue talks.
The marathon session highlighted ongoing tensions over Iran's nuclear program, with the US pressing for full commitment from Tehran to forgo nuclear weapons.
