Iran's Parliament Speaker Says US Threats Are Ineffective

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf rejected recent US threats, describing them as ineffective. In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Qalibaf said the threats have had no effect and that Iran does not rely on them.

Qalibaf indicated that Iran's armed forces are on alert and will deliver a different response to any action, with Iran acting as the operating party in any confrontation.

US President Donald Trump warned that without an agreement with Iran, action to control or seize the Strait of Hormuz may be considered. During a Fox News interview, Trump stated that closing the strait would bring heavy consequences for Iran, including military options and economic pressure. He also urged Iran via Truth Social to cease support for allied groups in Lebanon or face a harsher response.

CNN reported that Washington is examining scenarios for managing tensions and ensuring the security of energy routes. Iranian state media has reported the possibility of closing the Strait of Hormuz in response to pressures. The exchanges come amid rising mutual tensions between the two sides.
