The Ministry of Defense of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has rejected accusations by Pakistani officials linking Afghanistan to a deadly suicide attack on a mosque in Islamabad.
The attack, which occurred a day earlier in Pakistan’s capital, killed 31 people and injured 170 others. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility.
The ministry described the Pakistani statements as irresponsible, stating they cannot conceal Pakistan’s security failures.
Toriyalai Zazi, a military analyst, said Pakistan is one of the most dangerous terrorist-affected countries in the region and that the incident is Pakistan’s own responsibility. He added that such accusations aim to defame Afghanistan.
Sadiq Shinwari, another military analyst, said the baseless allegations are made to cover internal weaknesses and that their continuation is not in the interest of either country.
Akhtar Mohammad Rasekh, a political analyst, claimed the Pakistani intelligence services were behind the attack and are trying to convince regional countries with good relations to the Islamic Emirate that it supports terrorists.
Military and political analysts warned that continued accusations could negatively affect the fragile relations between Kabul and Islamabad.
