Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Seeks to Expand Ties with Qatar

Sohail Shaheen, the acting ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to Qatar, has stated that the government intends to further develop its political and economic ties with Qatar. Shaheen indicated that these efforts are part of a broader commitment to a balanced foreign policy, aiming for positive and constructive interactions with the global community and all nations.

The acting ambassador emphasized that Qatar occupies a special position in the foreign policy of the Islamic Emirate. He highlighted the country's critical role in hosting and facilitating the political dialogues that ultimately resulted in the conclusion of the foreign military presence in Afghanistan, noting that this historical role remains significant to current relations.

In addition to the government's stance, political analysts Samiullah Ahmadzai and Hiwad Zazi observed that Qatar continues to function as a neutral communication bridge. They stated that Qatar's unique diplomatic position allows it to facilitate essential dialogue and maintain diplomatic links between Afghanistan and the Western world, specifically mentioning the United States and various European nations. The analysts noted that this neutrality serves as a vital conduit for communication between the Islamic Emirate and Western powers.
