
Islamic Emirate Reports 148 Killed, 216 Injured in Recent Floods and Natural Disasters
KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, stated that rains, floods, landslides and an earthquake since the 6th of Hamal have killed 148 people, injured 216 and left 8 others missing across Afghanistan.
The disasters destroyed 366 kilometers of roads, thousands of jeribs of agricultural land and more than 5,000 houses partially, Fitrat said.
Reports differed on the number of houses completely destroyed, with Hurriyat citing Fitrat as saying 1,862 and RTA quoting him as reporting 1,149.
Hurriyat also quoted Fitrat as saying the disasters affected 7,504 families, destroyed 4,136 animal sheds and killed 1,801 head of livestock. It specified 16,700 jeribs of farmland were lost.
RTA referred to the 148 dead as martyred.
