Israeli Airstrikes Kill at Least 32 in Lebanon Despite Ceasefire

Israeli forces carried out airstrikes and drone strikes across several districts in southern Lebanon on Saturday. The attacks occurred even though a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah had come into effect the day before. At least thirty two people lost their lives in the strikes.

The civil defence agency recorded sixteen deaths and twelve injuries in the Nabatieh district alone. One incident involved the killing of a Lebanese soldier in the village of Kfar Reman. In the Tyre district, an attack on Barish village resulted in the deaths of a family consisting of four members. Four individuals were killed in Sohmor located in the Bekaa area. In the Sidon district, a strike on Qanarit led to at least seven deaths and thirteen people wounded.

Additional figures from the Ministry of Public Health indicated that eighty three people were killed and one hundred forty one wounded during attacks on Friday, which happened shortly after the ceasefire began.

These developments have prompted worries that the situation might impact planned discussions between the United States and Iran. The talks, focused on a memorandum of understanding, are set to take place on Sunday in Burgenstock, Switzerland. Iran regards the ceasefire in Lebanon as connected to these negotiations. The foreign ministry of Pakistan confirmed on Saturday that the US-Iran talks would occur on Sunday.

Reliability assessment

Single outlet but provides direct, on-record attributions with concrete details from multiple named Lebanese agencies (civil defence agency, NNA, Health Emergency Operations Centre, Ministry of Public Health) including specific locations, dates, and casualty numbers.

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Pajhwok: "raising concerns that the violence could derail talks", "fragile peace process", "have complicated the planned negotiations" — these phrases introduce opinionated framing suggesting negative impact and instability without direct attribution.
