At least nine Palestinians, including a child and an Al Jazeera cameraman, were killed in Israeli airstrikes and shootings in Gaza on Saturday.
The incidents took place in four locations. An Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the Sabra area of Gaza City killed four Palestinians, including two women and a child. Israeli forces shot and killed a woman in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza. In Khan Younis, an airstrike killed one person and wounded eight. Three people were killed when an airstrike hit the Al-Bureij refugee camp, including the Al Jazeera cameraman Ahmed Weshah.
The Israeli army claimed that Ahmed Weshah was a Hamas member and sniper. Al Jazeera and Hamas rejected the claim.
Palestinian health officials said the death toll from Israeli attacks since the ceasefire in October has risen above 1,000. The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate reported that nearly 300 journalists have been killed since the war began in October 2023.
Al Jazeera condemned the killing of its cameraman as a horrific crime.

Reliability assessment
2 independent sources corroborate the core event of Israeli attacks killing 9 including the journalist; consistent details on locations, incidents and casualty figures from Palestinian health officials
The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Ariana News: "horrific crime" is used to describe the journalist's death, framing it with strong moral condemnation; the repeated emphasis on lack of evidence for Israeli claims and the high Palestinian death tolls introduces mild advocacy phrasing that emotionally loads the reporting against the Israeli actions.; Pajhwok: "horrific crime" - frames the incident with strong emotional condemnation rather than neutral reporting; the emphasis on repeated journalist deaths and calls for accountability introduces advocacy phrasing.
