Jordan Reports Intercepting 261 of 281 Iranian Missiles and Drones Targeting Its Territory
AMMAN, Jordan — A spokesperson for the Jordanian armed forces stated that nearly 300 Iranian missiles and drones have targeted the kingdom's territory since the regional conflict began.
Mustafa al-Hiyari specified that 281 such threats had been detected, with 261 successfully intercepted and destroyed. The remaining projectiles caused injuries to 29 people and damage to homes, vehicles, and public property, al-Hiyari said.
Jordanian officials accused Iran and allied regional groups of conducting direct and unjustified attacks on the kingdom. Al-Hiyari emphasized that these actions violated Jordan's sovereignty.
The spokesperson reiterated Jordan's policy of neutrality in the ongoing regional conflict. He denied that the kingdom has permitted the use of its airspace for launching attacks on any other country since the war started.
Al-Hiyari's remarks highlight the strain on Jordan amid escalating tensions in the region. The armed forces have been actively defending the country's airspace, engaging threats as they arise to protect civilians and infrastructure.
No further details on the timeline of specific incidents or the nature of the allied groups were provided in the statement.
