The southwest zone under-14 football tournament was hosted in Kandahar province on 21 Hamal 1405. Following the event, organizers disqualified the Kandahar representative team after determining that it had included players who exceeded the under-14 age requirement. As a result, Daikundi's Jawanan Gulbadam team was named the champion of the southwest zone.

In addition to the Kandahar team, the representatives from Helmand, known as Haroon Popal, and from Zabul, known as Harirud, were also removed from the competition for the same reason of using over-age players. The Kandahar team had provided incomplete documentation for its players, which did not include details about their ages, photographs, or tazkiras. Verification confirmed that several players were over the age of 14.

Both matches played between the Kandahar and Daikundi teams were awarded as 3-0 victories to Daikundi due to the violations. A video has surfaced that shows Nasir Rahmani, who serves as a member of the executive committee of the Afghanistan Football Federation, making threats against the Daikundi team members.

The Afghanistan Football Federation has not released an official statement confirming the champion for the southwest zone under-14 category. Nevertheless, the Kandahar under-14 team has appeared and participated in the zonal championships. This development has occurred despite the prior decision by the tournament organizers.

Reliability assessment

Single source provides direct, detailed reporting with concrete, checkable details including specific dates, team names, official letters/decisions by organizers and federation, and a named individual (Nasir Rahmani)

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Afghanistan International: "threatens members of the Daikundi team", "pressure from some individuals associated with the Kandahar U-14 team on the ... decision-making process", "created new ambiguities and questions" — these phrases introduce emotional framing of conflict, misconduct, and institutional doubt without neutral sourcing.
