Serik Balgazarov, deputy head of Kazakhstan's National Scientific Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics, described Afghanistan as being in a continuous state of civil war after returning from a medical mission in Kabul. He noted that many young people suffer from injuries caused by mine explosions in the country.

According to Balgazarov, all surgeries performed by the team were very heavy and complex because the civil war in Afghanistan continues. The situation remains war-like, with ongoing conflicts affecting the population, particularly the youth who encounter mine-related traumas frequently.

The Kazakh medical team performed complex surgeries, exchanged expertise with Afghan doctors, and delivered humanitarian medical aid including Ilizarov devices during the visit. This assistance was part of broader efforts to support medical care in the region.

The delegation included specialists in surgery, traumatology, cardiovascular, pediatrics, and urology. These professionals provided consultations, performed surgeries on critically injured patients and those with congenital anomalies, exchanged experiences with Afghan doctors, and participated in joint medical commissions to enhance treatment approaches.

As part of the 'Days of Kazakh Medicine' program, the team delivered medical humanitarian aid including Ilizarov orthopedic devices to Afghanistan. The program aims to foster medical cooperation and provide necessary equipment for orthopedic procedures.

The medical team was welcomed at Kazakhstan's capital airport on Sunday, the seventh of Cancer, after completing its mission. This marked the end of their visit to Kabul where they offered scientific and practical assistance.

Reliability assessment

Single source provides direct, on-record attribution from a named public official (Serik Balgazarov, deputy director of a national medical center) with concrete details about the mission, participants, and purpose.

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Afghanistan International: "civil war in Afghanistan continues" and "This country is constantly in a state of war" – these phrases use strong, emotionally loaded characterizations of the ongoing conflict that go beyond neutral reporting.
