Khost Municipality Completes Road and Drainage Project in Matun City
The Khost Municipality has announced the completion of a comprehensive road paving and drainage infrastructure project in Matun city. The initiative, which was carried out over a five-month period, was designed to improve local transportation networks and urban mobility across two districts within the municipality.
The project was financed through the municipal development budget, with a final expenditure of 21,450,950 Afghanis. Construction crews completed the asphalt paving of 1,337 meters of roadway. In addition to the surfacing work, the municipality oversaw the construction of 700 meters of drainage canals to manage water runoff and prevent street flooding.
Rahmatullah Zwak, the Director of Technical and Professional Services at the Khost Municipality, provided details regarding the project’s execution and outcomes. He noted that the upgraded infrastructure is intended to streamline daily commutes for residents and enhance overall traffic flow in the affected neighborhoods. Zwak emphasized that the drainage improvements will help protect adjacent properties from seasonal water accumulation.
Municipal authorities have highlighted the completion of this initiative as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade public infrastructure and support urban development in Khost province. Officials stated that the newly finished roads and canals will serve as a foundation for future maintenance and expansion projects in the region.
