Macron Urges Pezeshkian to Leverage Iran-US Talks in Islamabad for Regional De-escalation

PARIS — French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian regarding the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States in Islamabad.

Macron urged Pezeshkian to make use of the talks to achieve a sustainable reduction in regional tensions and to secure a strong agreement on regional security.

"I asked the President of Iran to use the opportunity of the negotiations started in Islamabad to achieve a sustainable reduction in tensions and a strong agreement on regional security," Macron stated.

The French president also stressed the importance of fully observing the ceasefire throughout the region, including in Lebanon.
