Maidan Wardak Environmental Protection Directorate Urges Public to Refrain from Hunting Migratory Birds
The Environmental Protection Directorate of Maidan Wardak province has called on the public to avoid hunting, harassing or exterminating migratory birds during their migration season.
The directorate highlighted that migratory birds pass through Afghanistan's airspace and land every year as part of their seasonal migration. These birds play a vital role in maintaining environmental balance, biodiversity and natural systems, according to the statement.
Officials emphasized that protecting migratory birds is a national responsibility essential for preserving the country's natural wealth for future generations. The directorate urged compatriots to refrain from any activities that harm these birds during their passage through the region.
Citizens have been asked to report any instances of illegal hunting or harm to migratory birds to the relevant authorities, who will take legal action against violators. The appeal comes amid the ongoing migration season, when birds are particularly vulnerable.
Maidan Wardak province, located west of Kabul, serves as a key corridor for migratory species traveling between Central Asia, South Asia and beyond. The directorate's message underscores the importance of collective action to safeguard avian populations that contribute significantly to ecological stability.
