Malnutrition Worsens in 26 Afghan Provinces, OCHA Reports

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that malnutrition rates have worsened in twenty six Afghan provinces in two thousand twenty six compared to two thousand twenty five.
The organization identified twelve provinces as facing a critical malnutrition situation. These provinces are Helmand, Daikundi, Zabul, Baghlan, Uruzgan, Paktika, Nuristan, Sar-e Pul, Ghor, Kandahar, Faryab and Logar.
Nearly forty percent of infants under six months old require hospitalization due to severe malnutrition with medical complications.
Children under two years of age are the most affected group. They account for eighty three percent of severe malnutrition cases and seventy seven percent of moderate malnutrition cases.
