KABUL — The Organization for the Support of Afghan Media (Amsu) has voiced strong concern over the condition of three journalists detained by the Taliban, calling for their immediate and unconditional release.
In a statement dated 22 Hamal, Amsu highlighted the inappropriate mental and psychological state of Shakib Ahmad Nazari and Bashir Hatef, asserting that any negligence toward their health violates human rights, freedom of expression, international covenants, and Islamic values. The group also named Hamid Farhadi among the detainees.
Amsu stated that the journalists were simply carrying out their professional duty to inform the public and that their detention lacks any justification.
The organization demanded the prompt and unconditional freeing of Shakib Ahmad Nazari, Bashir Hatef, and Hamid Farhadi. It urged the United Nations, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Reporters Without Borders (RSF), and other international bodies to step up protection efforts for Afghan journalists.
Amsu warned that the Taliban bear full responsibility for the lives and health of the detained journalists, with particular emphasis on Bashir Hatef and Shakib Ahmad Nazari.

Reliability assessment
Single source provides direct, on-record attribution to a named organization (Amsu) issuing a statement on a specific date (22 Hamal) with concrete, checkable details including named journalists.
The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Hasht-e Subh: "strongly expressed concern" (mild emotional framing of Amsu's position); "serious violation of human rights" (value judgment in quoted statement); "no justification" (advocacy phrasing dismissing detention). These introduce opinionated language into the reporting of the statement.
