
Meeting Held to Evaluate and Coordinate Kabul City Reform and Zoning Plans
Officials from various Afghan government institutions gathered at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development for a meeting focused on evaluating and coordinating the reform and zoning plans for Kabul city.
Key participants included the Minister of Housing and Urban Development Mullah Najibullah Hayat Haqqani and the Mayor of Kabul Mullah Abdul Rashid Baloch. Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock the Afghanistan Electricity Corporation the Ministry of Information and Culture and Kabul Municipality were also in attendance.
The General Directorate of Urban Development presented plans for the development reform and zoning of districts two three five seven and nine in the capital. These plans and associated technical designs were prepared by professional engineers. Their objectives include ensuring the orderly development of Kabul preventing urban violations applying zoning principles and improving services to residents. The plans were reviewed approved and signed by the relevant institutions before being handed over.
In statements at the meeting Minister Haqqani underlined that the country requires large-scale construction and development projects. He said these must be implemented with complete coordination honesty and professional expertise.
Mayor Baloch for his part observed that development work in the city has so far been limited. He added that the Kabul Municipality is committed to carrying out serious and ongoing work to tackle urban problems and deliver standard services.
