Ministry of Education Introduces Subject Specialization for 10th Grade Students
The Ministry of Education of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has announced the implementation of a subject specialization program for students beginning in the 10th grade. During a recent ministry conference, education officials confirmed that the initiative will initially be introduced across 39 secondary schools, representing a structured shift in the national secondary education curriculum.
The rollout will begin with a pilot phase at Rukha High School in Panjshir province. Under the revised framework, students will have the opportunity to select specific academic tracks that correspond with their individual aptitudes and professional interests. Education officials noted that the policy is designed to create a more targeted learning environment as students transition toward higher education.
Ministry representatives stated that the primary objective of the specialization program is to align secondary coursework with the requirements of undergraduate studies. By enabling learners to focus on particular disciplines during their final years of high school, the administration aims to enhance academic performance and streamline the preparation process for university admissions.
Educators and students have welcomed the policy, characterizing it as a constructive step toward improving educational standards. The ministry indicated that the initial implementation will be closely evaluated to assess its effectiveness before considering a broader expansion to other provinces.
