Ministry of Public Health Launches Accreditation and Grading Process for Private Hospitals
KABUL — Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Health has initiated an accreditation and grading process for private hospitals, starting at the French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children in Kabul.
The launch event was attended by Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, the ministry's deputy minister, and Dr. Faqir Mohammad Ziar, head of the Medical Council. Haqqani stated that the assessments are being conducted according to scientific criteria by a trained team to enhance healthcare quality and patient safety.
Ziar said the process seeks to promote healthy competition among private hospitals, elevate service standards, and ensure greater transparency in the sector. He noted that the accreditation is initially being provided free of charge.
The ministry plans to expand the program beyond Kabul to other provinces across the country, aiming to improve overall healthcare delivery, safety, and transparency while fostering competition among private facilities.
This initiative marks a step toward standardizing private healthcare services in Afghanistan, with the initial evaluation focusing on the French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children as the starting point.
