KABUL — Afghanistan's Ministry of Water and Energy has announced the possibility of relatively heavy rainfall and flash floods over the next three days in parts of the country.

In a statement posted Tuesday on its X account, the ministry forecasted the weather event from 27 to 29 Hoot in the Harirod Murghab basins, Helmand province, northern regions, Kabul, Panj Aamoo and some related streams.

The ministry warned of potential flooding or rising water levels in rivers across multiple provinces, including Ghor, Faryab, Zabul, Uruzgan, Jowzjan, Sar-e Pol, Balkh, Samangan, Panjshir, Parwan, Kabul, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Nangarhar, Kunar, Nuristan, Baghlan, Kunduz, Takhar and Badakhshan.

Officials urged residents in the affected areas to avoid approaching riverbanks during periods of flooding or rising water levels. They also called on people to inform communities in downstream areas of any flood risks to help prevent human casualties.
