KABUL — The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) has signed a cooperation agreement worth more than $1.5 million with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) to aid returnee families and host communities.

The agreement, valued at $1,523,597, will provide cash assistance and fund repairs and construction of shelters in six provinces: Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Kunduz and Badghis, according to a ministry statement.

MoRR stated that the initiative aims to improve livelihoods and address shortages of basic resources faced by returnees and their host communities. The projects are designed to help families reintegrate and enhance living conditions in areas receiving returnees.

The signing underscores ongoing efforts to support those returning to Afghanistan amid various challenges. The Norwegian Refugee Council, a key international partner, will implement the activities across the specified provinces, focusing on immediate needs like shelter and financial support.

This partnership aligns with MoRR's mandate to facilitate safe and dignified returns while bolstering community resilience.
