Moscow Says NATO Preparing for Military Confrontation With Russia by 2030

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stated that NATO members are making concrete preparations for a potential military confrontation with Russia by around 2030. The deputy foreign minister made these remarks while discussing Russia's perspective on Western security policies.

Grushko said that Moscow believes NATO and the EU are pursuing policies aimed at inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia. He pointed out that there appears to be little difference between the approaches taken by NATO and the European Union in this matter.

In response, Grushko indicated that Moscow is adjusting its defense planning to account for these developments. The adjustments are intended to address the situation as perceived by Russian officials.

The comments highlight ongoing tensions between Russia and the West amid the war in Ukraine. Relations between the two sides have reached their lowest level since the end of the Cold War, largely due to the conflict in Ukraine.
