Nearly 1,000 Afghan migrant families returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran on Wednesday, the High Commission for Addressing the Problems of Refugees reported. The coordinated repatriation involved 956 families crossing through designated border points, with authorities processing a total of 5,056 migrants and 1,500 passengers throughout the day. Authorities emphasized that the repatriation was conducted in an orderly manner under ongoing coordination between border officials and refugee affairs staff.
The commission provided a detailed breakdown of the arrivals, noting that the Torkham crossing recorded the highest volume with 741 families. Spin Boldak processed 93 families, followed by Wreshmah with 80, Islam Qala with 29, and Baramcha with 13. Officials confirmed that border operations in Nimroz province accounted for the majority of the daily transit, combining both registered migrants and accompanying passengers.
Upon arrival, returnees were provided with logistical assistance and orientation sessions focused on national regulations and social integration. The commission distributed 1,036 SIM cards to facilitate communication and support initial resettlement efforts across multiple provinces. Officials stated that temporary settlement support and targeted financial assistance were also made available to help returning families reestablish themselves in their home provinces and access essential services.
