Netanyahu says Trump sees opportunity for Iran deal, Israel to continue strikes

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump, who believes there is an opportunity to achieve war objectives through a potential agreement with Iran.

In a video message, Netanyahu stated that such a deal could protect Israel's vital interests, while emphasizing that military operations would continue alongside any diplomatic efforts. He added that Israel would press ahead with strikes against Iran and Hezbollah, targeting what he described as nuclear and missile capabilities. Netanyahu stressed that Israel remains committed to defending its core security interests under all circumstances.

Trump said the United States and Iran had held "constructive" talks on ending hostilities in the Middle East.

Iranian officials denied any negotiations, calling the claims false and accusing Washington of attempting to influence global oil and financial markets.

The conflict between Israel and Iran has intensified in recent weeks, involving airstrikes, missile attacks and growing regional instability. Tensions have also expanded to Lebanon, where cross-border exchanges with Hezbollah have raised fears of a wider regional war.
