Netanyahu Supports Trump's Two-Week Suspension of Attacks on Iran, Excludes Lebanon
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has backed U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks.
Netanyahu's office, cited by Reuters, stated the pause applies only to Iran and is conditional on Tehran reopening maritime access and halting attacks on the United States, Israel and other regional states.
The Israeli leader clarified that the suspension does not extend to Lebanon, where military operations continue amid tensions with Hezbollah. Israeli officials confirmed no change in Israel's posture toward Lebanon.
Trump announced the two-week halt to pursue diplomacy and reduce the risk of a wider war. The pause came hours before his deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face strikes.
Pakistan mediated the arrangement through Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and military officials.
Despite the truce with Iran, conflict persists in Lebanon and Iraq.
