North Korea’s Kim Oversees Short-Range Missile Tests, South Condemns Launches

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un directly oversaw the test-firing of five upgraded short-range ballistic missiles from an area near Sinpo. The launches were conducted to evaluate new warheads. The five tactical missiles accurately struck a target 136 kilometers away with high precision on a designated area measuring between 12.5 and 13 hectares.

The missiles flew approximately 140 kilometers before landing in the sea. These tests mark North Korea’s fourth missile launch this month and the seventh conducted so far this year.

The presidential office of South Korea condemned the launches as military provocations. Officials stated that the tests violate United Nations Security Council resolutions. The condemnation was issued amid heightened regional tensions.
