Over 1,000 Afghan Migrant Families Return from Pakistan and Iran
On Monday, 1,004 families of Afghan migrants returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran through multiple border crossings. The repatriation was coordinated by state authorities, who provided registration services, financial assistance, and orientation to the returning households.
Official data indicates that the arrivals were distributed across four primary border points. The majority of the families, totaling 859, entered through the Torkham crossing. An additional 59 families arrived via Wreshmo, 57 through Spin Boldak, and 29 at Islam Qala. In Nimroz province, authorities recorded the return of 5,385 individual migrants and 1,576 passengers on the same day.
The High Commission for Addressing the Problems of Refugees oversaw the reception process at the border terminals. Officials stated that returning families received immediate guidance and logistical support to facilitate their reintegration. As part of the assistance package, 964 SIM cards were distributed to ensure returnees could maintain communication with relatives and access essential services.
State authorities emphasized that the repatriation efforts are part of ongoing measures to manage cross-border movements and support displaced citizens. Reception centers at the border crossings were staffed to handle documentation, provide basic necessities, and direct families toward longer-term settlement programs. The coordinated return operation reflects continued administrative arrangements with neighboring countries regarding the movement of Afghan nationals.
