Over 1,000 Afghan Migrant Families Return from Pakistan and Iran

More than 1,000 Afghan migrant families have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran, according to official figures released on Friday. The High Commission for Addressing the Problems of Migrants reported that 1,042 families, comprising 5,513 individuals, crossed back into the country through several official border points.

The majority of returnees entered through the Torkham crossing, which recorded 915 families. Additional arrivals were documented at Spin Boldak with 37 families, Wreshmeh with 74 families, Baramcha with 3 families, and Islam Qala with 13 families. Officials noted that the returns were processed across multiple provinces, with significant movement also tracked in Nimroz.

Upon arrival, the commission coordinated logistical support and financial assistance for the returnees. Staff members conducted public awareness sessions to inform families about available services and reintegration procedures. In addition to direct aid, the commission distributed 1,003 SIM cards to facilitate communication and access to mobile networks.

The repatriation effort reflects ongoing cross-border movements involving Afghan nationals residing abroad. Government authorities have continued to monitor entry points and coordinate with provincial offices to manage the influx and provide immediate relief to returning households. The commission stated that operations will continue to track arrivals and ensure that necessary documentation and support are provided at all designated border terminals.
