The Commission for Prevention of Land Usurpation has identified 1,107,652 jeribs of public pastureland across nine districts of Balkh province. The districts are Nahr-e-Shahi, Dehdadi, Marmul, Balkh, Sholgara, Chamtal, Chaharbolak, Kishindeh and Koh-e-Alborz.

Surveys conducted by a commission delegation found that roughly 80 percent of the land, exceeding 890,000 jeribs, remains in its natural condition for grazing. The other 20 percent has been converted to agricultural or residential use.

The pasturelands were confirmed by commission decision and registered in the national land bank. The step follows Article 13 of the Law on Prevention of Land Usurpation, which prohibits encroachment on public rangelands.

The survey team has been assigned to address the converted portions and is extending similar assessments to pasturelands in other provinces.
