Pakistan Deports 1,840 Afghan Migrants in One Day

The Taliban's Commission for Refugees has reported the deportation of 1,840 Afghan migrants from Pakistan over the course of one day. These returns occurred amid ongoing efforts by Pakistani authorities to send back undocumented migrants.
According to the commission, 1,560 of the returnees entered through the Torkham border crossing. Another 280 individuals arrived via the Spin Boldak and Bahramcha borders located in Helmand.
Pakistani media outlets have noted an increase in the pace of these returns. The daily figure has reached nearly 6,000 undocumented Afghan migrants. At the same time, the number of people applying for NADRA registration has climbed to 1,200 to 1,300 per day.
The commission also recorded 61 deportations from Iran, which included both forced and voluntary cases. In the week prior, Pakistan deported a total of 9,853 individuals based on the commission's data.
Separately, the International Organization for Migration documented 114,321 returns from Iran and Pakistan. This figure covers the period from April 26 to May 9 and includes 14,778 families. Overall, since January 1, 2025, through May 9, a total of 3.5 million people have returned to Afghanistan, representing 487,129 families.
