Pakistan Deports 220 Afghan Migrants and 398 Prisoners to Islamic Emirate During Eid
Pakistan deported hundreds of Afghan migrants during the three days of Eid via the Spin Boldak border crossing.
Kandahar officials from the Provincial Directorate of Refugees and Repatriates reported that 220 migrants and 398 prisoners were handed over to the Islamic Emirate during this period, marking an increase compared to previous times. Nematullah Alfat, deputy director of the directorate, said: "From Eid until now, 220 Afghan migrants have been deported from Pakistan and transferred to their areas by the Islamic Emirate."
Returned migrants described harsher treatment by Pakistani authorities. Akhter Mohammad, a returned migrant, said: "Pakistan police beat me severely, and a large number of Afghan migrants who were with me were also beaten."
Abdullah, another returned migrant, said: "The situation for migrants in Pakistan has become very bad. They arrest Afghan migrants and transfer them to camps, and there are no facilities there at all. In the two days I was there, nothing was given to me."
Afghans who traveled to Pakistan with legal documents for medical treatment also reported being denied hotel stays. Ahmad Afghan, who was detained in Pakistan, said: "My patient is outside, and we are not allowed to stay in hotels."
According to officials, the overall number of Afghan migrants in Pakistan has decreased, though forced deportations continue.
