Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has defended Pakistan's border fencing along the Afghanistan frontier. The defense came during a session of the National Assembly.

He stated that the fencing and security infrastructure are required to protect lives. Sharif explained that they also serve to curb threats and reduce illegal crossings.

Even though the project costs billions of rupees, the prime minister said it is necessary. He emphasized that the expense is acceptable if it results in saving even one life.
