Pakistan Ranked World's Most Polluted Country in 2025 by Swiss Institute
GENEVA (Afghan Verified) -- A Swiss air quality monitoring research institute released a report stating that Pakistan was the most polluted country in the world in 2025.
According to Reuters, which cited the report, dangerous polluting particle levels in Pakistan last year were 13 times higher than the set limit. The report ranked Bangladesh second and Tajikistan third among the most polluted countries, with air quality deemed harmful to health.
All 25 of the world's most polluted cities in 2025 were located in Pakistan, India and China, the report found. Previously, cities such as Lahore in Pakistan had been declared the world's most polluted.
The institute's findings highlight ongoing air quality challenges in South Asia and neighboring regions.
