Pakistan's Special Envoy Meets British Counterpart on Afghanistan Situation
Pakistan's special envoy for Afghan affairs, Mohammad Sadiq, met with his British counterpart, Richard Lindsay, to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, regional developments and the current security environment amid a growing terrorism threat.
Sadiq said in a statement on X that the two sides held constructive discussions on issues of mutual interest and expressed common views on recent developments. He emphasized the importance of sustained engagement for regional stability and cooperation.
The British special envoy has not commented on the meeting.
The discussions come amid ongoing border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan that have entered their fourth week. Reports indicate dozens of civilians have been killed in Pakistani military attacks on Afghan territory.
Pakistan announced a five-day ceasefire over Eid al-Fitr at the request of Saudi Arabia. Following its end, Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes on a Taliban army corps in Dihdadi district of Balkh province. The Taliban stated that parts of Zabul and Kunar provinces were also targeted by Pakistani artillery fire.
