Polio Vaccination Campaign for Children Begins in Faryab and Badghis
KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- The Afghanistan Polio-Free Organization announced that a new round of children's polio vaccination campaign began on Monday, 11 Hut, in the provinces of Faryab and Badghis.
The vaccination drive is underway in the districts of Pastun Kot, Qaisar, Almar, Maimana, Shirin Tagab and Dawlat Abad in Faryab province, and in Bala Murghab and Ghor Mach districts in Badghis province.
The organization did not specify how many children are targeted for vaccination in these two provinces.
The World Health Organization stated in a November report that polio cases have decreased in Afghanistan but the risk of virus transmission remains high in southern areas bordering Pakistan.
According to reports, nine confirmed polio cases were registered in Afghanistan in 2025.
Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries worldwide where polio cases continue to be reported.
