A Reuters/Ipsos poll of 1,246 US adults conducted July 25-27 found that only one-third of Americans support the US military campaign against Iran. Sixty-nine percent of respondents, including four in ten Republicans, said President Donald Trump has not clearly explained the objectives of the involvement.
Support for the campaign has remained below 40 percent since US and Israeli operations against Iran began on February 28. The poll, which carries a margin of error of three percentage points, shows backing at its lowest level as the conflict enters its fifth month.
The survey also recorded a modest rise in Trump's job approval rating, which increased to 37 percent from 34 percent in the previous month. The findings reflect sustained public skepticism over the goals and conduct of the military effort.
