Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Holds Telephone Conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister

Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held a telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Anwar Ibrahim.

The two discussed regional developments, particularly tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as increased tensions in the region following attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran.

Akhund expressed concern over the rise in tensions and stated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan believes in solving problems through understanding and joint cooperation. He highlighted that the Islamic Emirate demonstrated its goodwill by suspending defensive operations during Eid al-Fitr at the request of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar.

He added that violence is not in the interest of any party and that actions increasing tensions should be avoided, with problems resolved through wisdom and rationality.

The Malaysian Prime Minister expressed similar concerns about the regional situation and hoped the temporary cessation of violence between Afghanistan and Pakistan would continue. He said existing problems should be resolved through sincere negotiations and understanding, adding that Malaysia is trying to play a positive role with both sides.

Pakistan's foreign ministry announced that following the end of the temporary ceasefire for Eid al-Fitr, it resumed a targeted operation against terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan. The operation has been referred to as Ghazab lillah or Ghazab al-Haq.
