Vinicius Junior scored twice from the penalty spot to lead Real Madrid to a 4-1 home victory over Real Sociedad on Saturday night, February 14, temporarily moving the team to the top of the La Liga standings.

The match took place at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid. With this win, Real Madrid reached 60 points, two points ahead of Barcelona, which has one game in hand and is scheduled to face Girona on Monday.

Real Madrid opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Gonzalo Garcia, assisted by Trent Alexander-Arnold. Real Sociedad equalized in the 21st minute with a penalty converted by Mikel Oyarzabal.

Vinicius Junior restored the lead from the penalty spot in the 25th minute. Federico Valverde added a third goal in the 31st minute with a precise shot, and Vinicius sealed the 4-1 scoreline with another penalty three minutes into the second half.

Real Madrid captain Federico Valverde said after the match: "We are satisfied with the team's performance; it was almost a flawless game and we could have scored more goals, but the important thing was our decisive victory."
