Red Crescent Northeast Zone Reports Over One Million Received Free Health Services in 1404 Solar Year
The Northeast Zone directorate of the Afghan Red Crescent Society has reported delivering free healthcare to more than one million individuals across four provinces during the 1404 solar year. The medical services were administered through a network of clinics operating in Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan, and Kunduz.
Sayed Hamidullah Sadat, head of publications for the directorate, outlined the organization’s annual activities during a recent press conference. He stated that in addition to routine medical care, the directorate distributed food supplies, non-food items, and direct cash assistance to more than 10,000 residents displaced or affected by natural disasters over the past year.
The regional office also expanded its educational and psychological support programs. According to Sadat, hundreds of young people completed free vocational and language courses, with instruction focused on computer literacy, Dari, and English. The health initiative further facilitated the clinical treatment and successful family reunification of more than 60 patients receiving specialized mental health care.
The directorate’s annual report highlights a sustained effort to integrate medical care with broader social welfare initiatives in the region. Local health coordinators indicated that the expanded clinic network has significantly reduced barriers to treatment for rural communities. The Red Crescent emphasized its commitment to maintaining accessible services for vulnerable populations in the northeast, with future planning focused on evaluating community needs and adjusting resource allocation across the four target provinces.
