Report: Pentagon Offered Trump Military Options Including Targeting Iran's Khamenei and Son

The U.S. military has presented President Trump with a range of contingency plans against Iran, including scenarios targeting Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his son Mojtaba, according to senior advisers cited by Axios.

Officials told Axios that no decision has been made on any such options, which remain under consideration amid escalating tensions with Tehran. One senior Trump adviser said the Pentagon "has something for every scenario," including plans to remove regime leaders, but noted that Trump has not committed to any strike. Another source confirmed the decapitation option was floated several weeks ago.

At the same time, Trump is reportedly open to reviewing Iran's nuclear proposal, which might allow limited "token" uranium enrichment if Tehran demonstrates no path to weapons development. This reflects deep divisions within U.S. policy circles.

Iranian negotiators, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, stated that Tehran is preparing a detailed counterproposal to ease tensions and avoid conflict, while warning that delays could heighten the risk of war.

U.S.-Iran tensions have intensified as the Biden-era nuclear deal remains stalled. Washington has warned Iran to curb uranium enrichment or face consequences, potentially including military action. Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful and has signaled readiness to negotiate, though hardliners on both sides have raised the stakes, increasing risks of miscalculation.

Advisers emphasized that both diplomacy and military options are contingent on Tehran's response.
