Reza Pahlavi calls for U.S. military intervention in Iran
Reza Pahlavi, son of Iran's last shah, has called for U.S. military intervention in Iran, stating that such action could "save lives."
Pahlavi said signs indicate the Iranian regime is nearing collapse and that an attack could weaken it or hasten its fall. He urged the Donald Trump administration not to spend excessive time negotiating a nuclear deal with Tehran's religious leaders. These remarks came on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, where Iranian officials are barred from attending.
"It's just a matter of time," Pahlavi added. "We hope this attack will accelerate the process so that people return to the streets and the path to the final fall of the regime continues."
The comments coincide with nationwide protests in Iran that began on December 28 with a small gathering in Tehran's Grand Bazaar against economic woes. The unrest quickly spread across the country and has become Iran's bloodiest disturbances in history, according to reports.
