Several major transportation routes in Ghor and Samangan provinces have been temporarily closed to traffic following recent heavy rainfall and flooding. The Ministry of Public Works confirmed the closures and stated that cleanup operations are currently underway to restore passage.

Affected routes include the Ghor-Herat highway, the Firozkoh-Murghab road, and the Firozkoh-Charsada highway. Additional closures have been reported in the Shahrak and Tolaq districts of Ghor, as well as along the Aybak-Khurm and Sarbagh route near the Mullah Ali bridge in Samangan. The ministry indicated that water accumulation and debris from the recent weather events have made these sections unsafe for vehicular movement.

Ministry officials reported that engineering and maintenance crews have been deployed to the affected areas to clear blocked passages, remove debris, and assess structural damage to roadways and bridges. Provincial directorates remain on standby to respond quickly as conditions evolve.

Authorities have also issued a warning regarding expected heavy rainfall in other regions across the country. The Ministry of Public Works urged provincial teams to maintain readiness and prioritize the clearance of major transit corridors to prevent prolonged disruptions. Travelers are advised to seek alternative routes where possible and exercise caution while navigating areas impacted by the recent weather.

The ministry stated that normal traffic flow will resume on the closed routes once safety inspections are completed and cleanup efforts have sufficiently restored the roadways.
