The Russian drone strikes that killed at least three civilians and wounded over a dozen others took place in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. These attacks happened on Friday while Moscow continues to press its summer offensive amid stalled diplomatic efforts.

Details from the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast show that two passengers aboard a minibus lost their lives when a Russian drone struck the city of Nikopol. In addition, 12 other individuals were injured during this incident, and two of the injured were children. Oleksandr Hanzha, who serves as the regional governor, stated that the attack on Nikopol was due to the city's proximity to the front line.

In the neighboring Zaporizhzhia Oblast, two civilians suffered wounds from separate Russian strikes. The strikes also resulted in damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure in the area.

In recent months, Russia has stepped up its use of long-range drone and missile attacks against Ukrainian cities. At the same time, both sides have been exchanging strikes in regions behind the front lines. The level of fighting remains high in eastern and southern Ukraine, and efforts to reach a ceasefire have not seen any breakthrough so far.

Reliability assessment

Single source (Khaama Press) provides direct on-record attribution from named regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha, specific locations (Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast), casualty details, and cites Reuters; core event of strikes is corroborated with concrete, checkable details despite being secondary reporting.

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Khaama Press: "civilian areas have increasingly borne the brunt of the attacks" – frames Russia as disproportionately harming civilians; "no immediate prospect of peace" – adds pessimistic opinion on the conflict's trajectory.
