A large-scale Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv killed at least four people and injured dozens. The strikes damaged residential buildings and caused fires in cars and houses from drone debris. Power lines were hit, leaving about 140,000 residents without electricity.

The assault ranked among the heaviest on the capital in the past two weeks and targeted high-rise residential buildings.

A fire broke out at a historic monastery listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Emergency teams responded to the blazes.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said emergency teams are working to contain the fires, which are difficult to extinguish due to wooden structures in the buildings.

Avramiy, head of the historic monastery complex, called on the international community to help stop Russia's aggression destroying sacred sites.

The attacks occurred shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with US President Donald Trump the day before on ending the war. Zelenskyy is scheduled to consult at the G7 summit in France.

Reliability assessment

Single source but provides direct, on-record attributions from named officials (Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, monastery head Avramiy) with concrete details including casualty numbers, specific locations, infrastructure impact (140,000 affected), and timing context. Meets reliability criteria via attributable statements even without multiple sources.

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. ToloNews: "one of the heaviest attacks", "Russia's aggression which is destroying sacred sites" – these phrases use emotionally loaded language that frames the event with strong negative judgment on one side and emphasizes victimhood and cultural destruction.
